I just luv REM. First saw them on the Tube singing Talk About the Passion & I was hooked. Collected every album, think I have about 30. Joined the fan club cause they used to send out all kind of private records and information etc. Seen them in concert too many times to count.

I must have been getting into R.E.M. around the same time as you (yes, I’m sad enough to do the dots). Two of my friends at school liked them too, and we used to have big serious-seeming-at-the-time discussions about them. Funnily enough, their favourite song was Country Feedback too, by a large margin, but I’ve never got that into it. I still think it’s a bit plodding, but I wouldn’t skip it were I listening to Out of Time again.

My fave albums of theirs are Document, Murmur and Up. Especially Murmur, it’s terrific. Ooh, there’s a deluxe edition on Spotify! That’s my afternoon music choice sorted, then.

These guys were college for me. I remember when we got Chronic Town in and playing Gardening at Night on the radio at 4AM. Life’s Rich Pageant was on my turntable in our apartment the night it was stolen. Side one of Document can’t be beat.

I’ve heard and read you speak very eloquently about this song in the past. I find it very inspiring that one song could touch you in such a way.

I myself can’t think of any single one song which has changed my life. I’m sure there is one, but…
