For a good 30 years of my life, I couldn’t understand the attraction in designer handbags. I mean, I tend to carry a lot of crap around with me, and I need to know that crap is held securely in something that I can chuck under my desk, you know? And while this isn’t something that’s going to change any time soon, recent events have conspired to have me looking at auction websites, and dreaming:
– the discovery that my name is very, very close to that of a designer label;
– the fact that, last week, the strap on my current favourite bag (a lemon and navy bowler bag from Floozie by Frost French that I got for £18 on sale in Debenhams) snapped and now I have to carry it hooked on my arm like who do I think I am some kind of movie star.
So I thought I’d put together a wee collage of some of my current favourite designer bags. Some of these are new, some of them are second hand; one of them made me cry in a leading luxury department store; all of them are out of my budget. Although there’s one that I’ve been talking about for so long I might ultimately bust out the credit card for. I remain a big fan of bold colours and quirky styles, even in the case of a two and a half grand antique Chanel vanity. Just look at it, though.
Oh, and how good is it that backpacks are in again??
CLOCKWISE FROM TOP LEFT: preowned Chanel bag | Love Moschino shoulder bag | Kate Spade crossbody bag | Anya Hindmarch maxi bag | Furla crossbody bag | Vivienne Westwood backpack | preowned Chanel bag | Furla satchel bag
Now we’ve got that sorted out, could I maybe have a preowned Omega watch as well? No?
