I love this. And I haven’t always loved what I’ve heard by Rachael Dadd, a Bristol-based alt-folk singer-songwriter, but this first track from her new album
We Resonate is at once light and earthy, and its refrain – which sounds almost like
cuckoo, cuckoo, cuckoo repeated softly – resonates in the base of my spine.
“Strike Our Scythes” appears on one side of a split 7″ released today by our friends at Isle of Eigg-based Lost Map Records. “Jogalong” by Rozi Plain is on the other side and it’s almost as marvellous.
These two mesh so well that it’s little wonder they’ve been out and about on tour together, although a Glasgow date passed me by while I was stupidly indifferent. Outstanding dates are below and are of particular relevance to any English readers, while everybody else can
order the single directly from Lost Map.
