Well, this is awkward. After my beloved Gaslight Anthem put in a fairly workmanlike performance at the Academy back in October, I decided against getting a ticket to their big March tour – with no new material due before then, I figured the show would just be more of the same.

But then, this morning, I got an email announcing the support and it’s only bloody Japandroids!

That’s Japandroids, creators of my Arts Desk album of the year if not quite top of my overall final fifty. Japandroids, a band that I have never seen live but whose life-affirming woah-oah-oah choruses hint at a live performance that is positively flammable. Now, given that Gaslight Anthem are currently aiming for Mumford and Sons levels of fame (but please, please not tedium!) most of these shows are probably close to selling out – but I guess I’m going to have to suck it up and find an extra fifty quid from somewhere.
