returning to her riot grrrl sonic roots;
As a serious proper journalist (at least in my day job) I know better than to publish press releases in full, but given my disappointment with the Corin Tucker Band’s 2010 album (so much so that I don’t have a post to link to on the frontwoman of my all-time-favourite band’s debut under her own name) the wording of the announcement of September’s follow-up has gotten me grinning:
Kill My Blues finds former Sleater-Kinney frontwoman Tucker returning to her riot grrrl sonic roots along with band members Seth Lorinczi (Golden Bears), Sara Lund (Unwound) and Mike Clark (Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks).
…Of writing and recording the new album, Tucker notes that Kill My Blues was a group effort. “After the past two years playing together, traveling and making music, I think we’re more comfortable,” she says. “We collaborated on every song on this record and no one was shy about their ideas. I think you can hear that sense of joy and abandon in the songs.”
There are tour dates too, but as they are on the US east coast you can bloody well find them on the Kill Rock Stars site. Kill My Blues is due on 18th September. Your move, Wild Flag.
