you’re capable of anything, aren’t you?
Rock Sound had the first play of the video for “Did Your Broken Heart Make You Who You Are?”, the first single from Franz Nicolay’s new album Do The Struggle, yesterday – it came with an embed code, so I don’t think I’m treading on anybody’s toes by reposting it here. The song ramps up the theatrics from the stripped-back demo – obviously, I suppose – and although it took me a few listens, oktopus’ production and the sound of nothing like Nicolay has ever created before has combined into a five-star album. The Glasgow show is next week, and I could really, really do with selling a few more tickets in advance – go on, you know you want to.
Also, I really really love what Nicolay has to say about the song:
There is a school of thought, which I subscribe to, which says that it is the terrible things that happen to you which shape your personality as a grown-ass person. In other words, those things make you who you are. But there are some people, maybe you are one, certainly you know one; they get their heart broken once and it’s all they ever want to talk about again. I’m here to say that’s not good enough…
