i hope the stars don’t even come out tonight//i hope we both freeze to death;

The first day back in the office after the clocks have gone back is a surreal experience. You don’t notice it getting darker so much earlier at the weekends – we go through them in a different timezone don’t we, or at least in some kind of a daze. I wasn’t expecting it to be pitch black by the time I left work tonight, and when you factored in the driving rain it was perfectly witchy weather.

Kinda takes the fun out of shopping for a certain special girl for oh, no reason at all, a little though.

I really think Glasgow’s shops should follow the example of London’s and stay open that bit later more than one night a week. When I have to buy something I need to run out on my lunchbreak, or make do with the twenty minutes between getting out of work and closing time. I’m very conscious as I type this, however, of how horrible it would be to be a shop worker forced to work late to fill in those later opening hours. It’s not so long ago I was one of those myself and hated bloody office workers and their bloody lunchbreaks and their bloody rushing in for a couple of groceries on the way home.

Do kids not come round the doors for Hallowe’en anymore? No that I miss the little brats in the slightest, but it’s still strange we haven’t the opportunity to ignore anybody banging on the door tonight.

Now one of the reason I’m glad I left LiveJournal behind is that I no longer have to wade through knee-deep piles of memes every day, but since the twin asked me so nicely (and gave me the best laugh I’ve had in a month this morning:

    Ah fuck. I always love these stupid things, so I’ll play for no good reason. Picking five albums is difficult, though. I will exclude Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan or I’d never get anything done here. Wait FAVORITE doesn’t have to be BEST. Shit.

    1. Girl, You Have No Faith in Medicine
    2. Hardest Button to Button
    3. Ball and Biscuit
    4. There’s No Home for You Here
    5. You’ve got her in Your Pocket

    Ugh….this hurt; it’s a near impossible task.

    I would have chosen Blue by Joni Mitchell but a certain someone beat me to it. I could have also picked Court and Spark as a close second Joni album, I love that equally and Hejira and Ladies of the Canyon and Clouds…..see I can’t pick. I wish I could play like her, or write, or paint…she would make anyone feel totally inadequate. I don’t think she’s human; someone that gifted has to be an alien; just a theory of mine.

    A Case of You is one of my all time favourite songs, ever.

    I could have easily added some Velvet Underground ~ Loaded, Smashing Pumpkins ~ Siamese Dream, The Beatles ~ Revolver, Beth Orton ~ Central Reservation and the Midnight Cowboy Soundtrack …. but you know, it would have been 10 albums, then 15 and so on and well, I have no self control.
